In 2024 we center our actions around the theme of Sustainability. We invited academics and practitioners working in the field of anthropology in Romania, Portugal and the Netherlands, who focus on issues of sustainability, to share their insights here. Anthropologists all over the world are working to understand the social and cultural implications of climate change and develop tangible solutions to one of the most pressing issues of our time. Reflecting current challenges, their research can focus on a wide range of issues, from the social life of concrete, plastic and other environmentally harmful materials, to the overexploitation of natural resources, the environmental implication of quarantining cities during the pandemic, or the creation of natural parks and heritage sites. By raising awareness about practices that harm the environment, this research can inspire action towards a more sustainable future.
